New Rules For USA Diving Summer Regional Meets

Kelly Jackman Explains New Rule

It is important to remember judges will not know the average qualifying score to beat prior to an event.

That score will not be known until after all 10 Regionals are completed. This makes it impossible for a judges or judges to boost scores to get over the average qualifying score. Such an attempt would invariably be too high or two low and be obvious when the final scores from all 10 Regionals are calculated by DiveMeets. Moreover DiveMeets knows the overwhelming majority of judges, judge dives on the basis of what they see. Variations in scores are almost always a genuine disagreement regarding the quality of the dive. DiveMeets firmly believes the age group judging among USA Diving Judges is the most fair and balanced in the world.

Regionals that score higher than 1 full standard deviation point above or below the remainder of the
Regionals will have their score thrown out and will not be part of the final average qualifying score for
the event. Of Course divers from those regionals will still advance.
