Steve Foley dives with Greg Louganis in 1984 Olympics

Steve Foley became the USA Diving High Performance Director following the retirement of Ron O'brien in July 2008. In this short video from the 1984 Olympics, you will see 2 dives by Steve, and 1 by Greg Louganis. Both Steve and Greg were coached ( at different times ) by Ron O'brien who is also shown in this clip.

During the 1984 Olympics Foley was coached by (the then University Of Miami Coach) Steve McFarland, who looks a little like Robert Redford in this video.

Foley started his career diving in Australia, where he was a three-time Olympian (1976, 1980 and 1984) and was the first Australian male diver to final in both springboard and platform at the Games (1984).

He served as head diving coach and Australian national coach at the Australian Institute of Sport from 1989-1995 and was head coach of Australia’s 1992 Olympic Team after attending the 1988 Games as an assistant coach. Foley has attended the past nine Olympic Games in a number of capacities". (source credits usadiving.org and NBC)
